Product Questions

Do foot pockets run large or small compared to actual shoe size?

Our foot pocket sizing is true to actual foot size in millimeters / inch. For use with up to 3mm neoprene socks we advise selecting the foot pocket size which corresponds with your actual shoe size.

For use with thicker (5mm+) neoprene socks, we advise selecting one size larger than your actual shoe size.

To determine which foot pocket size is right for you, please refer to our universal shoe size conversion chart.

What's the difference between Classic and Lite Footpockets?

The WaterWay Powerfins are available with two foot pocket designs; Classic (with full rails) and Lite (rail-less);

Lite foot pockets reduce the total weight of each fin by ~150-180 gr (depending on foot pocket size) without compromising the performance of the fins.

This is really a matter of personal preference; some divers prefer heavier fins while others prefer lighter fins.

What's the difference between flat and angular blade?

Larger blade angle (~22 degrees), allows easier swimming on the surface and less strain on your knees; Smaller blade angle (~12 degrees) allows more efficient energy conversion however creates greater strain on your knees when swimming on the surface.

A flat blade is a good choice if you don't swim long distance on the surface to get to your dive site.

How do I choose blade stiffness?

We advise selecting blade stiffness in correlation with your overall weight and physique;

  • Stiffness 1 - Extra soft - Weight under 45kg (~100 lbs).
  • Stiffness 2 - Soft - Weight between 45~70 kg (100~155 lbs).
  • Stiffness 3 - Medium Soft - Weight between 70~90 kg (155~200 lbs).
  • Stiffness 4 - Medium - Weight between 90~115 kg (200~255 lbs).
  • Stiffness 5 - Medium Hard - Weight over 115kg (255 lbs).

These fins are everything I ever could have hoped for in a fin. I just love them!! The power transfer is everything I expected it to be and more. I dive a lot, so my legs are pretty fit for diving. I got the stiffness #4 with the original footpocket and 22 degree blade. In my 23 years of hardcore diving, I would say these were the best thing I've ever bought by far. Really excellent product, I couldn't be happier. In the old fins I used to have, I would wear the 44-46 footpocket for my size 10 foot. I ordered the 44-45 in these since everyone said the footpocket is so big, but I should have gone maybe the next size up since I wear 7mm booties. My foot with the 7mm booties will not even come close to fitting. Not even a 5mm will. So right now I'm using a 2mm skin in sock and it's doing fine. Overall, the power transfer on these is going to blow your mind if you're coming off ordinary plastic fins. So glad I bought them.

Very durable fins - as described. I have been using them for spearfishing around the reef for a couple months now and they are as good as new. Foot pockets are very similar to the old Sporasub foot pockets, might even be the same mold, they are quite massive and require socks to be used comfortably.

Great fins, I have stiffness No. 3 and they are perfect. Not a deep diver <80' but they stand up to a beating. I use them in the channel islands and north coast for ab diving.
Excellent fins!

I ordered these fins about a month ago.
I dove with them 5 times so far and they live up to their name "Power Fins".
The fin works great underwater, very comfortable footpockets - very strong blade its virtually unbreakable by bending!
